How To Get To Ysleta del Sur Pueblo

Ysleta del Sur Pueblo is located twelve miles east of downtown El Paso. It is accessible by private vehicle, city bus, and a guided tour from Inter-State 10 and the Border Highway (Loop 375). Ysleta Pueblo is the gateway to El Paso’s Mission Valley that includes the historic communities of Ysleta, Socorro, and San Elizario. These scenic villages include historic missions, old adobe buildings, informative museums and cultural centers, fine restaurants and alluring boutiques and attractive shops with original arts and crafts.

From the El Paso International Airport

 

Take Airway Blvd South to Gateway Blvd. (Approximately .5 miles)

Turn Left (east) on to Gateway Blvd.

Merge onto I-10 (east)

Take Exit 32 (south) to Zaragosa Rd / George Dieter Rd / FM-659

Turn Right (south) on to Zaragosa Rd / George Dieter Rd / FM-659

Continue to follow to Zaragosa Rd / George Dieter Rd / FM-659 (Approximately 3 miles)

Turn Left (east) onto Alameda Ave (you will see the Mission de Corpus Christ de Ysleta del Sur church at the southeast corner of Zaragosa and Alameda)

Turn Right (south) at Old Pueblo Rd.

End at 119 S. Old Pueblo Rd. on the left side of the street.

Purpose and Target Groups

Tigua Trails website was created to introduce the viewer to the history and culture of the Tigua Indians of Ysleta del Sur Pueblo, and to promote heritage tourism and  historic preservation of the El Paso area, particularly Ysleta and the Mission Valley. The site serves tribal members, students and scholars, tourists, and the general public.

Ysleta's principal attractions include the Tribal Indian Cultural Center, Ysleta Mission de San Antonio and much more! Explore and enjoy the historic sites, and learn about the living cultural legacy of the Tigua Tribe and the cultural diversity of the El Paso region.  

Content and Subjects

Tigua Trails posts helpful information for the Heritage Traveler including web links, museums, historic sites, parks, libraries/archives, and activities calendars. Tigua Trails also identifies scholarly resources and incorporates information such as bibliographies, chronologies and archival resources.
