Location: Socorro, Texas

Socorro Mission is located in the town of Socorro, Texas, four miles east of the Ysleta Mission on Socorro Road and 18 miles from downtown El Paso.

It is accessible from the Border Highway or from Interstate I-10 (take the Zaragosa exit). Sun Metro stops near the mission (Route #84 from downtown El Paso). Special group tours can be arranged by the El Paso-Juarez Trolley Company, which is located at the Civic Center (Santa Fe and Main) in El Paso, Texas.

Socorro Mission Architecture

Socorro Mission is known for its pure and simple New Mexican mission architecture, especially its distinctive cloud-stepped façade reminiscence of Pueblo Indian pottery design. The colorful overhead beams (vigas) were painted by the Piro Indians centuries ago.
